PVDF Polyvinyl fluoride
PVDF is a high-crystal polymer, which unites the good mechanical properties with superb chemical resistance. Together with PTFE it belongs to a group of ductile and elastic, fluorine thermoplastic materials.
There are two types of PVDF:
- white - with chemical resistance and good trybological properties and high mechanical capacity,
- black - with 8% carbon filament addition for better thermal dimensional stability and abrasion resistance or conductible soot. It can be used in petrochemical, chemical, food, paper and textile industries as well as nuclear technology.
Properties:
- high mechanical endurance,
- durability and creep resistance (better then other fluoropolymers),
- high load resistance also in low temperature,
- superb chemical resistance,
- high admissible working temperature (150°C),
- good sliding properties and abrasion resistance,
- physiologically harmless (admitted to direct contact with food),
- very good dimensional stability,
- low flammability,
- exceptional resistance to UV radiation as well as atmospheric factors,
- good machinability,
- compression strength.
Durability
PVDF possesses abrasion resistance and rigidity, making it an ideal material for designing and constructing machines and vehicles. It finds application in transporting engineering, laser technology, emission control installations, water supply systems, electronic and filters technology.
Endurance
PDF is characterized by chemical endurance. There is no danger of stress corrosion while using it. It is resistant to hydrolysis, sterilization and high temperatures up to 150oC. Thanks to this, it turns out to be useful in direct contact with food and chemical apparatuses, insulators and connectors.
UV radiation resistance
PVDF is characterized by a very good resistance to UV radiation and influence of water conditions. It can be used both in closed rooms and outside.
Dimensional stability
PVDF almost does not absorb moisture. As the result, elements made of it remain the same for the whole operating life. This material is recommended for pump casings, filter plates, valve housings, reservoir lining, seals, tightenings, rotors, rollers, stirring and pressing elements.
Contact with food
PVDF is admitted to direct contact with food (it is physiologically harmless).
Colour
PVDF is available in white and black colours.
